IMAGO: The Future of Blackness

In current times there has been social and political unrest about the value and weight of Black Lives, with there being demonstrations, protests about police brutality and the rise of social media as surveillance into activities perpetrated against people of color.

I was honored to be selected to be a part of the IMAGO: Future of Blackness concert as the main idea behind it was:

"In biology, imago is the last stage attained during metamorphosis; a process of growth and development. It is also known as the imaginal stage, the stage in which the being attains maturity. This concert will explore the transition to the next stage beyond surviving and towards for the African Diaspora, including the growing pains and social challenges that it will face to reach its full potential. Featuring acclaimed HBO Def Poet Amir Sulaiman and Berklee Students, and produced by Dom Jones."

The concert was a part of an inaugural conference put on by the Data for Black Lives organization and was packed full of conference attendees and general public. The concert set the tempo for the continuation of the conference which hosted various conversations on the education, health and wealth of people of color.
